Yay, the weather here feels like we are finally out of the winter blues and into sunny days, cool to hot breezes. We are also on the cusp of BBQ season, then the social life kicks in as sausages are grabbed last minute from the super market, salads and cakes are whipped up and stashed in the car so they don’t tip over on the way to BBQ destination. Upon arrival, the abundance of food has the host exclaiming the need for everyone to eat lots and take all their dishes back home with them.
In the last few weeks Kylie and I have moved into the new flat and it is now in a tidy organized state, we can even accept visitors! A few last things have yet to make there way back here, like fridge magnets (sooo easy to forget) and a piano. The cats were kept inside for a week to make sure they knew where home was, once released they happily went outside for all of 5 minutes then turned round and came straight back inside again, looking at us in disbelief in regards to our choice of location. WHERE are the chickens? They stared angrily at us. The garden here is quite dull in comparison to the last one, no chickens to mock stalk, no garden dust or car oil to roll about in and come inside, only to get either dragged into the bathroom for a clean or kicked outside again. The local Persian is a relaxed very friendly cat who sits on the porch waiting for the other two to figure out he just wants to be friends. He doesn’t seem to notice that our cats are either hissing at him or staring from a safe vantage point. Not to worry, I am sure the garden will be sufficiently muddy and interesting in the new house.. once its built.
We have also started up the mountain biking again, twice so far this week we went up Rapaki with some friends. I was nervous the first time, thinking i might struggle. But i am not as unfit as i thought and slowly made my way up without a rest stop, hooorah! We were also in Hamner last weekend for a birthday bash.. which involved a mountain bike, a game of something or other, then a beach stroll. Beach stroll was so our friends could find fossils (lots on this beach..) and I kinda half hearted looked for fossils, found a few on BIG rocks I did not want to carry back, so happily walked along the beach and took photos instead. Which are now on display in this post!
I thought for amusement sake you could see the office’s before and after. Last week I cleared a small space on desk and ignored the boxes as I tried to work. Then on Monday this week I had had enough, so gave myself one morning to get it ALL sorted. Which it now is! For your viewing pleasure a before and after shot.
I hope my New Zealand friends are enjoying this fabulous weather… as for my northern hemisphere friends, I hope Halloween went well and winters beginnings are bringing out all your warm winter knitwear (which in my opinion, makes a winter more bearable).
